　　When I was in junior high, I had to learn English for the first time, and it was really hard for me to pick up at first. The words, grammar and sentence patterns are just so different from Chinese. But with the help of my English teacher, I gradually learnt some basic words and useful phrases, and I started practicing English with foreigner whenever I got a chance, the more I acquire, the more I am willing to learn and I put more effort and I am determined to be really good in English. Now, after so many years, I am still a big fan of the English language, and I cannot live a single day without it.

　　2. Describe a gift that you would like to give to your friend.

　　I would say the gift I would like to give to my friend is an iphone 6 plus. I know it is kind of expensive, but I think it's worth the value. Firstly, it embodies the most cutting edge and state of the art technology, like touch screen, voice control and video camera, stuff like that. With this smart phone, my friend can talk to his friends and family members wherever and whenever he wants. Apart from that, he can download movies to watch on the high fidelity screen, just to kill some time. Last but not the least, with wifi access, he gets to know what is happening around the globe by surfing on the internet.

　　3. What do you think the government should do to decrease the usage of cars or other vehicles and solve the traffic problems?

　　There are lots of ways for the city to deal with the traffic jams. Firstly, the decision makers should invest more money to improve public transportation, like adding more bus routes, develop express local trains and renovating bumpy roads. Secondly, they in order to limit the number of private cars on roads, more tax should be imposed on gasoline price, and they probably should reduce the price of public transportation, and make it more accessible to citizens, so when they commute, they will only consider using public transportation.

　　4. What is the most important quality the teacher should have?

　　I would say the most important quality of a good teacher is knowledge. As known to all, the teacher's job is to impart knowledge and enlighten the students' creativity. A teacher is supposed to be an expert in his or her own field, they should also have some knowledge in other fields, cuz lots of subject are related with other fields for example, geopolitical science deals with geography and politics, behavioral economics is about psychology and economics. Most important of all, a knowledgeable teacher will be more popular than a teacher with very limited knowledge.

　　5. Which of the following do you think is the most important for maintaining good health? Doing exercises, eating healthy food, or going to bed early?

　　I would say doing exercise is definitely my choice, going to the gym and doing some exercises is of great fun. Actually, it helps me to keep fit and be athletic and develop my agility and strength at the same time, so I do not look awkward. There are lots of exercises that one can do to keep healthy, like do jogging in the park, work out in the gym, do some aerobics like yoga, and swimming. These activities can enhance your cardiovascular system, and help you to get rid of the poisonous substance in your body, and I do not think eating healthy food and going to bed early are as helpful as doing exercises.

　　6. Describe your favorable place to study.

　　I would say my most favorite place to study is the coffee shop. when I need to do some schoolwork, I would stay inside of the coffee shop, it is so quiet and I can concentrate on my assignments, like writing papers, and even preparing for exams. when I feel like to practice my speaking English, I can always have the choice to go outside sit around the patios to read out loud. Despite all these advantages, I can enjoy a cup of good-tasting coffee. Also, if I am hungry, I will get some cookies and that will give me enough energy to study.

　　7. Describe an experience that you worked well with another person. Explain why that experience is important to you. Include reasons and details to support your response.

　　I would say my first internship in a local bank in my community is very precious to me. I worked together with Tony Wang, he worked there for lots of years, and he is a very nice guy and willing to help newcomers to grow in a professional setting and he taught me a lot, I owe him a lot.

　　Since I was not familiar with way that people do their works in the bank, he told me it is important for me to be sensible and aware of the dynamics in the company and keep a low profile. He offered to help me with working procedures and treated me like a little brother.

　　8. Talk about an interesting school activity that you participated in recently. Give details to support your response.

　　Actually, there are lots of school activities one can do, like working out in the gym, reading books in the library, and stuff like that. I would say I like to work out and play sports in the gym most.

　　In our school, we have a very up to standard gym. There are lots of facilities in it, like a very nice swimming pool, basketball court, badminton court and stuff like that. As a college student I am busy with all kinds of assignments like papers, group projects and even presentations. Go ahead, and playing some sports is of great fun, cuz I can relax myself and totally forget my pressure in my study.

　　9. Which of the following volunteer work would you choose and why? 1. Working as a home tutor 2. Helping adults 3. Helping old people.

　　If I were given a chance to do some volunteer work, I would help the seniors. Now there are more and more retirees in my country, and the nursing homes and senior center are not doing a very good job to help the seniors. There are quite a few things that I can do to help the seniors, I can read them newspapers, to help them get access to what is happening around the world. I also could assist them to tidy up their rooms so they might have a very good mood every day. Apart from that, I can just talk with them, seniors get lonely easily, and by interacting with them, they will feel a sense of belong to the community and there are someone out there who care about them. With all the above reasons and more, I would volunteer to help seniors.

　　10. Describe a job you admired but you will NOT choose it yourself.

　　I think the job that I admire is the government official, I would say it is the most challenging profession, they are responsible to solve complex social problems like, education, Medicare, and the economy of the region or country. These issues are just tricky and hard to deal with. Another reason that I admire them is that they have to sacrifice their private life to public scrutiny and they have no privacy, it's like living in a golden fish in a bowl. This is a very noble profession, however I admire the profession, I would not dare to become a government official.

　　11. Talk about an organization or a club that you would like to join. Explain why you would like to join this organization? Please include reasons and details in your response.

　　I would like to join in the swimming club, cuz if I joined the club, I would have a chance to compete together with my teammates to represent my university. That would be a great honor for me. In some competitions, I have to work with my teammates to win the game, and it gives me a strong sense of belonging and I feel I am needed by the team, my teammate and I would cheer up each other and get inspirations, encouragements from my fellow teammates. On top of that, I am a big swimming fan, when I am swimming in the pool, I feel so relaxed and it is a very good way to keep fit.

　　12. Which of the following Art classes would you be more interested in taking? Wood Sculpture, Painting or Photography?

　　I would say I like to take the photography class, I have a very genuine interest in photographing, and I am very passionate about expressing myself through imageries. I take pictures to record my own life, and it is a very good way to reflect the past, also I like to help others to remember their precious moments by photos, like their weddings, graduation ceremonies and some other special events. I just feel that when I am not using my camera, there is a void in my life. But I still need to get better in photographing, so I would like to take this class.

　　I would say that teachers should communicate with students in class, and I have the following reasons for support, first and foremost, when talking to the students in class, there are body language and facial expressions involved, students can hear the teachers' real voice and that can make the interaction more vivid and effective. Secondly, there are problems when sending emails to students, like not every student can get the information that the teacher is trying to convey, what if some student do not check their email in a timely manner and they might miss important information about the class, like the date of the midterm exams or final exam.

　　2. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement. Young people know the world better than their parents when their parents were their age.

　　I do agree that young people know the world better than their parents when their parents were their age. I think modern technology plays a very decisive role in this, a few decades ago, there was no internet, and computers were not available in every household, even telephones were not so popular. These sophisticated technologies help a lot to spread information and knowledge in different areas, young people today are lucky enough to employ these technologies to learn about the world, explosive news can spread faster than ever before, all it takes is just a touch on your smart phone and the world is in front of you, unfortunately, our parents did not have the privilege to have this when they were young.

　　3. Do you think government should spend money on saving the endangered animals or the money has to come from private sources?

　　I would say it is definitely the government's responsibility to save the endangered species, and I have two reasons for support. Firstly, the government has all the resources need to preserve the wide animals, like research facilities, natural conservation areas, and even different science foundations. Secondly, government is supposed to take care the country, a big part of that responsibility is to save the endangered species from going extinct. It is not even possible for private firms or individuals to take such a huge responsibility.

　　4. Would you like to make friends with the same interests or the one with different interests.

　　Personally, I would like to make friends with different interests. Admittedly, as the saying goes, birds of the same feather flock together, I do think it is more interesting to make friends with totally different hobbies. By making friends and interacting with someone who has different hobbies can help us to broaden our horizon and enrich our knowledge in different fields. For example, I came to know a guy who like to planes and cars, by hanging out with him, I gained lots of information about the models of various fancy cars, and you will not lose anything to know more at least.

　　I do believe it is really important to have a cell phone to be successful. To begin with, information is so valuable in today's world that the first person who has the most up to date information can use that to make tons of money, and in order to get that kind of information, we can get that information by surfing the internet, using a cell phone. Secondly, to be successful in the business world, one needs to do effective marketing, and with the widespread use of internet, there are millions of individuals and corporations that place advertisements and commercials on mobile networks, for these reasons and more, I would say a cell phone is decisive in today's business world.

　　6. Some people think that employees should be required to wear formal suits by their bosses. Other people think that employees should be required to wear casual clothes by their bosses. What is your opinion and why?

　　I think professionals should wear formal suits instead of casual outfits. Firstly, wearing suits and ties can showcase their professionalism. I have never seen professionals like lawyers, salesmen, or businessmen dress in casual outfits when they are working in a professional environment. Secondly, requirement on dressing code is a kind of a discipline that all the employees should observe in workplaces, when they are dressed up, they will feel a sense of responsibility and thus spare no effort to accomplish bigger goals, based on these reasons, I think employees should definitely be required to wear suits in a working environment.

　　7. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? University students need to study harder in school in order to get a job upon graduation.

　　Personally, I disagree that university students should study harder in order to get a job upon graduation. The real reason that a fresh graduate cannot get a job is that they lack soft skills, like communication skills, leadership and even organization skills. Corporations place great importance on these skills, and they are decisive to get a job in the future. Studying hard and getting a high GPA has nothing to do with getting a job in the future. Instead, they should socialize with different people and enlarge their social network, after they get enough valuable connections, they will have no problem finding a job.

　　8. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

　　Children should be required to help with household tasks as soon as they are old enough to do. Use specific reasons and examples to support you answer.

　　Personally, I definitely think that children should do household tasks as soon as they are old enough. Lots of important qualities can be developed through such activities as doing housework. Children will learn to be responsible person, and that is a like cornerstone to lead them to become a better person. On top of that, children will get a sense of achievement when competing the house chores, their parents might even give them some reward like buy them toys or offer them some pocket money. Through such activities, children will be likely to be very determined and motivated when they do bigger projects in their adulthood and be successful.

　　9. Some people prefer to buy innovative high-tech products like cell phones and computers when they first came out, others would buy them after the price has been decreased. Which do you prefer and why?

　　I would say I like to buy innovative high-tech products after the price goes down, and I have a few reasons for support. First and foremost, products with cutting edge and state of the art technology are usually very expensive when they first come out, and as a college student I do not have lost money to waste on that, cuz I have to pay college tuition, textbooks and stuff like that. Additionally, we consume technological products for its convenience and they will be as valuable and convenient as they firstly show up in the market, so it is more advisable to buy that after a while.

　　10. If you have time, would you choose to learn to play a new musical instrument or learn to play a sport.

　　I would definitely choose to play a new sport. I find it very relaxing when I play sports, it helps me to release my tension and depression that I got from both my life and study. Apart from that, playing sports is a very good way to keep healthy and try to be in good shape. It helps you to build up some muscles and be athletic, it is also good for your cardio vascular system. Lastly, I get a chance to meet new friends and broaden my social network when playing a sport, getting to know different people is a very thrilling experience for me.

　　11. Some people like to stay at home and reading books or studying, while others like to socialize and relax with friends. Which do you prefer?

　　I would say I definitely will hang out with my friends, as an extremely outgoing individual, I find it more interesting when spending time with friends like doing karaoke, eating out in a fine restaurant, and even playing some sports. By interacting with my friends, I get quite a few benefits, like I can broaden my horizon and have unique perspective on things. Also, when we do stuff together, I feel like I can connect more with them emotionally, and that helps to sustain our friendship forever, and I think it is safe to say that at least human beings are social animals, we need to socialize with people to be happy and fulfilling.

　　12. Some students prefer to study for only one long time during a week. Others students prefer to study for several short times during a week. Which way do you prefer and why?

　　I prefer to study for several short times instead of studying for a long time during a week and have the following reason for support. You know, as a college student I am very busy with all kinds of studies, we have different kinds of assignments, like presentations, group projects, papers to write and exams. Studying for several short time makes it possible for us to take a rest once in a while, however, studying for a long time during a week without any break will kill me and of course, we will be so worn out and not as productive as studying for several short time.

　　13. Some people like to participate in activities alone, others like to do that with a team or group. Which way do you prefer and why?

Personally, I would like to participate in activities in a group, I am an extrovert and outgoing person, and I think it is more fun when there are people around me. Plus, I can also learned the importance of cooperation and responsibility when I am with a team, for example in a sport competition, me and my teammate struggle together for a common goal, offer each other motivation along the way, and I feel that I care something bigger than myself during the game, and I think this is very meaningful.
