　　《疯狂外星人》影片是根据亚当·雷克斯的儿童小说《斯麦克节的真正意义》改编而成。当影片的导演蒂姆·约翰逊买了这本书，就给他的两个儿子(一个5岁，另一个7岁)作为睡前故事来阅读。当蒂姆·约翰逊只读了两章时，就把两个孩子哄上床，但蒂姆却身陷这部儿童故事中，并熬夜看完了这本书。在看完之后的凌晨2点，便下定决心把这本书搬上大银幕，并且把这个想法告诉给了梦工场动画的CEO杰弗里·卡森伯格。

The Boov may be superior in many ways, but not in the ways that I now thinks are most important.
